The 6th research article by Jens Rowold about the geometry of Crop Circles: "Research concerning the Tetrahedron" appeared. Jens is comparing his research with the work of others, like Bert Janssen, Ilyes and Martin Keitel.

In seinem 6. Artikel über die Geometrie von Kornkreisen mit dem Namen "Research concerning the Tetrahedron", der leider nur in englisch vorliegt, vergleicht Jens Rowold seine Arbeit mit den Ansätzen anderer Konrkreisforscher, wie Bert Janssen, Ilyes und Martin Keitel.

Formation Nr. 10 in Angeln wurde am 8.7.98 bei Kius gefunden.

Formation No. 10 has been discovered in Angeln near Kius at 8th July 1998.

5.7.1998 Ehlen/Kassel: Doppelspirale im Roggen 23.7.98

Die Formation liegt im Nachbarfeld des 1997er Labyrinth und ist auch - wenn auch nur schemenhaft - von der Autobahn aus zu sehen. Von der Straße aus, die direkt am Feld vorbei nach Ehlen führt, ist zwar das Feld aber nicht die Formation zu sehen. Auch wenn man am Feldrand steht ist absolut nichts zu sehen.

Die Formation selbst ist eine Doppelspirale die ineinander läuft, mit jeweils einem kleinen Kreis im Spiralzentrum. Die Formation hat ca. 60m Ausdehnung, die Spur ist ca 70cm breit und die Kreise im Spiralmittelpunkt sind ca. 3,5m. Der Roggen ist teilweise mannshoch, die Formation ist von der Halmlagerung und dem Gesamteindruck her sehr schön. Es war äßerst schwierig sich im Feld einen Überblick zu verschaffen. Wolfgang Schöppe hat die Luftaufnahme gemacht (s.u.).

Am 12. Juli wurden von Nancy Talbot (BLT Team, USA) Andreas Müller (I.C.C.A), Wolfgang Schöppe (FGK), Wolfgang Ring (FGK) Getreide- und Boden-Proben innerhalb und ausserhalb der Formation entnommen. Diese wurden im Laufe des Jahres 1999 im Pinelandia Biophysical Lab von Dr. Levengood (BLT Team) wissenschaftlich analysiert. Der Bericht hat erstaunliche Ergebnisse geliefert!

Ehlen/Kassel, Germany: Double Helix in Rye
This formation lies in the field next to the maze formation of 1997. It is visible vagely from the Autobahn. The field is visible from the street to Ehlen which passes it, but not the formation itself.

The formation is a double helix which is running into one another. Both spirals with a small circle in the center. The formation has a size of 60m. The path is 70cm wide and the circles in the centers have diameters of approx. 3.50m. The rye has partially a hight of a man. The overall impression if the formation and the layering of the crop is very beautiful. It was very hard to get an overview on the formation from the field. Wolfgang Schöppe took the arial photograph with his remote controlled plane.

Nancy Talbot (BLT Team, Boston, MA, USA), Andreas Müller (I.C.C.A), Wolfgang Schöppe (FGK), and Wolfgang Ring (FGK) took samples of the formation (plants and soil) on July 12th 1998 which were analysed in 1999 by Dr. Levengood, Pinelandia Biophysical Lab, (BLT Team). The results are really astonishing!

5.7.1998 Marburg: Spirale in Weizen (Gemeldet am 3.7.98) 3.8.98

Diese Formation haben FGK-Mitglieder am 5.7.98 besucht - Kurioserweise auch eine Spirale! Allerdings eine einfache Spirale die in einem Außenring endet. Auch hier ist das Feld (Weizen) nur schwer einsichtig. Von der Stadtautobahn Marburg aus ist die Formationen zu sehen, aber nicht deren genaue Form. Auch hier ist die Halmlagerung sehr schön - das Korn richtet sich schon wieder leicht auf.

Eine Besonderheit gibts hier: Die Formation geht über 2 Felder! Beides Weizen, getrennt durch einen schmalen Pfad (etwas breiter als eine Traktorspur). Die Felder unterscheiden sich farblich. Von dieser Formation bekommen wir ebenfalls Luftbilder. Herr Gehard Kuhn aus Marburg hat am Samstag mittag die Formation überflogen. Aufmerksam wurde er durch einen Pressebericht.

Marburg: Spiral in Wheat (reported 3.7.98)
This formation has been reported on the 3rd of July. FGK members investigated it on sunday 5th of July. Curiosity: Again a spiral! This is a simple spiral which ends in an outer ring. It is hard to see the formation in wheat from the street. You can see the formation roughly from the "Marburg-Autobahn" but the shape is not recognizable. The layering is very nice. The stalks are re-erecting already.

The formation is covering two fields. Both cropfields (wheat) are separated by a small path (a little bit wider than a tramline). The colors of the fields differ. Arial photographs will become available from Gehard Kuhn from Marburg who flew over the fields on saturday. He heared about the circle in a press report.

Es gibt mit Sicherheit 2 neue und eventuell auch einen dritten Kornkreis! Diesesmal hat Sie alle Herr Enke von der Straße aus entdeckt! Eine Formation hat viele erstaunliche Neuerungen und Besonderheiten.

Formation 6/98 liegt im Weizen bei Tolk und ist ca. 46 Meter lang, bestehend aus drei Kreisen, einer Spirale zwei Rechtecken etc.. Diese Formation war ganz frisch, Herr Enke schätzt diese auf ein Alter von ca. 1-2 Tage, aus vielerlei Indizien muss diese während eines der schweren Gewitter der letzten Tage entstanden sein.

Formation 7/98 ist ebenfalls in der Nähe von Tolk, liegt im Weizen, bestehend aus einem im Durchmesser 10,30 m grossen Kreis und einem kleinen von 2,8 m im Durchmesser. Diese Formation scheint jedoch schon wesentlich älter zu sein - so ca. 7 bis 10 Tage!

Preliminary report by Jan Schwochow based on infos of Mr. Enke.

At least two new formations appeared in Angeln, Nothern Germany in the last 3 days. Mr. Enke discovered them from the street. One formation has astonishing new features.

Formation 6/98 in wheat near Tolk has a length of about 46 meters. It is has three circles, a spiral and two rectangles. This formation was quite new. Mr. Enke estimates the age to be 1-2 days. The formation appeared during heavy thunderstorms in the last day due to several signs.

Formation 7/98 appeared in wheat near Tolk as well, cosisting of a big circle with a diameter of 10.30 meters and a smaller circle with 2.8 meters. This formation seems to be older - approx. 7 to 10 days.

A circle in marsh gras has been found at the 30th of May 1998 on the ground of the KAMA music festival near Idar-Oberstein (Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany). The gras in the center was still standing. The circle had a diameter of 2 to 4 meters. The plants where laid down in vertebras.

Unfortunately, the circle has not been documented and was already destroyed by the visitors at the 31st. It is inpossible to judge if it was a joke of the festival visitors or the "real phaenomenon". No further information is available in the moment.

1.5.1998, Kius an der Schlei, Angeln, Norddeutschland:

Clemens Richter entdeckte am Freitag, den 1. Mai einen einfachen Kreis bei Kius an der Schlei. Wie schon die letzten Jahre beginnt das Phänomen in Angeln auf die selbe Weise! Der neue Kreis liegt nur einen bzw. zwei Kilometer entfernt von den jeweils ersten Rapskreisen der Vorjahre! Von Straßen und Feldwegen aus ist der Kreis NICHT zu erkennen!

Am 3. Mai haben Clemens Richter und Jan Schwochow den Kreis das erste mal betreten. Der Durchmesser beträgt 7,5 bis 8 Meter, in der Mitte steht eine Torte mit einem Durchmesser von ca. 1,2 Meter. Im Kreis finden sich die selben Besonderheiten der Vorjahre.

Clemens Richter discovered a formation in oil seed rape at the 1st of May 1998. The circle appeared in a distance of approx. 2 km from the former years first circles. It is NOT visible from streets or small roads in the fields.
Clemens Richter and Jan Schwochow visited the formation the first time at May 3rd. The formation is a circle with a diameter of 7m with a standing circle in the middle with a diameter of 1.20m. A report and pictures will follow soon.

Am 30.04.1998 hat Wolfgang Schöppe bzw. Herr Eckard Weber einen Rapskreis in Burghasungen bei Kassel gemeldet. Herr Weber hat nach seinen eigenen Angaben den Kreis vorhergesehen. Der Kreis entstand in einer nebligen und regnerischen Nacht, wohl in der Nähe der 1997er Kreise. Herr Weber fand bei der ersten Untersuchung keinerlei Fußspuren in und um das Feld, obwohl der Boden total aufgeweicht war. Er hält den Kreis für absolut "echt". Einen Bericht mit Bildern haben Frank Laumen und Dirk Laskowski geschrieben.

The first German formation in oil seed rape has been reported at April 30th 1998 by Wolfgang Schöppe, resp. Eckard Weber. Eckard Weber has forseen the formation as he reported to the FGK. The circle appeared in a foggy and rainy night close to the 1997 formations in that area. Mr. Weber did not find any footprints in and around the field although the ground was softened and slobbery. He regards the circle to be "genuine". See the field report.
